Supporting our Safety Net Partners
In every region we serve, our safety net partners -- the community health centers, free clinics, public hospitals, and public health systems that serve growing populations of low-income and uninsured residents -- were impacted in 2010 by real or threatened funding cutbacks from deficit-burdened local and state governments. To help them maintain their services, we provided close to $40 million in grant support. To leverage that support, we partnered with safety net providers to expand their capacity to employ evidence-based, efficient clinical practices by sharing our knowledge and innovations in integrated care, population and chronic disease management, and IT-enabled quality improvement.
