MLK Day Draws Thousands of Kaiser Permanente Volunteers
![]() |
Throughout California, in the Mid-Atlantic States, in Colorado, Ohio, Hawaii, Georgia, and the Pacific Northwest, our physicians and employees, including our senior leaders, spent the day painting public school buildings, planting school gardens, packaging and distributing donated foods to food banks, serving meals at homeless shelters, providing free health screenings, and dozens of other community activities. Our Chairman and CEO George Halvorson, was joined by other senior leaders at Oakland's City Team Ministries where they distributed hundreds of coats, donated by physicians and employees to people in need.
As valuable as those services are to the thousands of people helped, the event, as always, proved equally valuable to Kaiser Permanente and the volunteers themselves by reminding us that every day of the year not just this national day of service is another opportunity to serve our communities.
