Kaiser Permanente Recognized as Top Company for Diversity by DiversityInc
The 2011 ranking, based on detailed surveys consisting of more than 300 empirical measures, evaluated 535 participating companies, each with more than 1,000 employees. The rankings are based on four key areas: CEO commitment, human capital, corporate and organizational communications, and supplier diversity.
In declaring Kaiser Permanente No. 1, DiversityInc noted the exceptionally strong diversity leadership of our Chairman and CEO, George Halvorson, and commented that what makes Kaiser remarkable is the consistency of its diversity-management efforts, as well as the alignment between diversity in the workplace and diversity in the customer base. For example, the organization's Institute for Culturally Competent Care and the nine Centers of Excellence are making significant strides in eradicating healthcare disparities for black, Latino and Asian populations, people with disabilities, and immigrants.
In recent years, Kaiser Permanente's diversity efforts have placed the organization at or near the top of numerous corporate diversity rankings by other organizations and publications, including the top spot for three years in a row by Diversity MBA Magazine's 50 Outfront for Diversity Leadership award.
