Publicity and promotion for your new grant

Your new grant is an excellent time to tell the story of your important work-to your partners, the community, and the media. There are many ways to communicate, including via a press release, newsletter, your website, social media, and donor communications. If you are interested in doing outreach or promotion, our communications team may be available to help. Please contact your grant manager to discuss.

How to acknowledge Kaiser Permanente

To make it easy to communicate about your grant, we have prepared language describing our partnership. This language can be used for newsletters, websites, or other communications. Please use one of these descriptions when acknowledging your Kaiser Permanente grant.

Short credit: The project is supported by Kaiser Permanente Northern California Community Benefit Programs.

About the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Community Benefit Grants Program

Kaiser Permanente's community involvement uniquely pairs grant funding with 65 years of clinical expertise, medical research, and volunteerism to support prevention-focused, evidence-based programs that are expanding access to care and creating healthy environments. Kaiser Permanente recently awarded ______ a $____ grant that will help more people in this community get access to the resources they need to lead a healthy life. For more information about Kaiser Permanente’s work in the community, visit www.kp.org/communitybenefit/ncal.

Use of Kaiser Permanente logo

If you would like to use a Kaiser Permanente logo along with the credit line above, please contact your grant manager or NCAL-CB-Programs@kp.org. Let us know your requested file type (JPEG or EPS) and color (blue or black).

As a nonprofit organization, Kaiser Permanente's logo cannot be used on any materials that imply endorsement of legislation or a candidate.

Progress and Final Report Templates

As mentioned in your award letter and grant agreement, you will have a progress report and/or final report due by specified dates (usually one month after the end of the grant period). Below are the report templates we use. You may be contacted by your grant manager with specific supplemental information during the course of the grant.

  • Final report template (includes budget expenditure report)
  • Budget expenditure report only

Request/Notification of Change to Grant Terms

As you progress through your grant period, you may realize that changes to your original grant terms are required. We understand that changes occur, and will work with you to reach a solution.

Changes that require notification and approval include:

  • Organization tax exemption status or fiscal agent-related changes
  • Changes to key staff, leadership, or board of directors
  • Revisions to the budget greater than 10% of the total grant
  • Revisions to the original workplan
  • Request for no-cost extension to increase the project period

For any of the above changes, please notify your grant manager as soon as possible. He/she can discuss the changes requested and provide you with instructions for how to proceed.

Generally speaking you will need to provide a written request on your organization's letterhead, with justification for the change. Other documentation may be required depending on the request.

Once reviewed, you will receive a notice of approval from your grant manager, and, in some cases, a revised grant agreement to sign and return.

Storytelling tips and template

Personal stories and testimonials are some of the most effective ways to illustrate the value of your work. Stories touch people's hearts and lodge in their memories. They can be extremely effective in fundraising appeals, donor and board communications, and funding applications. Reporting requirements for Kaiser Permanente grants ask for a story about your work midway and/or at the end of your grant. We also appreciate your sharing stories with us at any point.
