The largest portion of our Community Benefit Program budget is devoted to government programs offering comprehensive health insurance to those in need. Medi-Cal and Healthy Families are the two largest government programs we support. We also provide our own charitable coverage program–the Child Health Plan to offer Kaiser Permanente coverage for uninsured children. In addition, our emergency rooms are open to all and our Charity Care program helps pay for those who can't.
California's community clinics, public hospitals and health care systems play a vital role in caring for the uninsured and under-insured, providing a safety net for those in need. By sharing funds, clinical expertise and best practices we help safety net providers improve health outcomes for more people.
Our Community Health Initiatives take a prevention-driven approach to health care, concentrating on those issues that seriously impact the health of our communities–issues such as obesity and violence. By partnering with community based organizations, we can bring healthy choices to more people.
We are working to improve health care by sharing our knowledge–educating practitioners, advancing research, empowering consumers, and informing policymakers–about the benefits of preventive care and health.
In addition, Kaiser Permanente's Educational Theatre Programs (ETP) bring live theatre to schools and communities free of charge. These performances are designed to inspire children, teens, and adults to make informed decisions about their health and to build stronger, healthier neighborhoods. You can request a show or learn more about ETP offerings for schools on our ETP website. Contact us by phone by calling 877-353-2223 or by email at etpinfo@kp.org
