Kaiser Permanente Northwest has a long history of supporting health care education, workforce diversity, and community involvement. Building on our commitment, we’ve partnered with the Oregon Area Health Education Center at OHSU to administer the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Career Scholarship Program to increase and diversify our region’s health care workforce.
Through this collaboration, we provide $2,000 scholarships to help youths achieve their dreams of becoming health care professionals. These scholarships are awarded to at least one qualified senior at each of 113 approved high schools in the Kaiser Permanente Northwest service area, which spans from north of Longview, Washington, to Corvallis, Oregon.
In addition, students who are awarded the scholarship during their senior year of high school are eligible to apply for an additional scholarship to be applied toward their third year of college.
All students who meet basic eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. Additional points are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and/or are first-generation college bound, bilingual, or from an ethnic or racial minority group underrepresented in a health profession. Since the scholarship program started in 2008, our recipients are representative of the following:
The application period for the 2012-2013 school year is now closed. Recipients will be notified of their award in late April 2013.
