Our Medical Financial Assistance Program served more than 5,200 patients with $17.4 million.
We invested more than $1.8 million in safety net organizations and community clinics, the frontline providers of care to the uninsured in our state.
Supplementing our work with the nonprofit, LiveWell Colorado, to address our state’s obesity problem, we launched the Weigh and Win program, which provides financial incentives for Coloradans to achieve a healthy weight. We saw 15,000 people enroll in the first nine months of launching the program, and after one year, participants are reporting an average weight loss of 11% or 17 lbs. There are three Weigh and Win sites in Colorado Springs and two in Pueblo.
Our Educational Theatre Program, which provides free, health education performances and workshops, reached 147,000 children and adults. In Southern Colorado, ETP reached more than 3,800 people in our service to school districts.
Through our Graduate Medical Education program, we provided $7.9 million to help train Colorado’s health care workforce.
Kaiser Permanente employees gave thousands of volunteer hours to help nonprofits in 2011. In fact, on a single day, the MLK Day of Service, our volunteer program had more than 500 employees and family members participating at 24 nonprofit projects and provided more than 3,300 hours of community service.

We provided a $90,000 donation to support the American Red Cross' Colorado Wildfire Relief efforts.
