As a health plan and health care provider with more than 65 years of experience, Kaiser Permanente recognizes the benefits of keeping people healthy. That's why, in addition to participating in government programs like Medi-Cal and Healthy Families, we provide our own programs—like the Kaiser Permanente Child Health Plan, which covers low-income kids who don't qualify for public programs. More than 217,000 people received coverage through these programs in 2011.
Kaiser Permanente also offers financial assistance to people who need help paying for care they receive in our facilities. Last year we provided 53,500 Medical Financial Assistance awards to members and patients.
