Created in 1990, Kaiser Permanente’s Charitable Health Coverage (CHC) programs assist individuals in our communities who are ineligible for public health coverage programs, lack coverage through employer subsidized plans and cannot afford premiums for market-priced individual plans. Our commitment is to provide health coverage options that are comparable to commercial coverage and to make these individuals full-fledged Kaiser Permanente members with the associated privileges and benefits of: a regular Kaiser Permanente membership card, the comfortable assurance that we are their medical home, and access to on-line services at kp.org.

Either through our own charitable health coverage programs or by assisting individuals and their families with government-sponsored coverage, each year we help thousands of children get the coverage they need.
For example, our unique Child Health Plan is a program that serves children up to 19 years old from families earning under 300 percent of the federal poverty level.
