All our deductible plans offer hearing tests at little or no cost to determine whether you need corrective services — even before you reach your deductible.
Additional hearing benefits
Other hearing benefits, such as hearing aids, are considered extras that can be added to your deductible plan. To find out if your plan includes these additional benefits, check your Evidence of Coverage or call the number on your Kaiser Permanente ID card.
With most of our deductible plans, you’ll pay a copay for eye exams to determine whether you need your vision corrected and, if so, your prescription for eyeglass lenses. (Under an HSA-qualified plan, you'll pay full charges until you reach your deductible.)
You may need to pay full charges for additional services, such as exams to diagnose or treat eye diseases, until you reach your deductible. Then you’ll pay a copay or coinsurance for the rest of the calendar year.
If you have your health plan through your employer, you may receive additional benefits to supplement the many services covered by your deductible plan. They’re known as supplemental benefits. They can include dental, chiropractic, acupuncture, or other services. For most plans, the money you spend on services covered by supplemental benefits won’t count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum.
If you have an HSA-qualified deductible plan, certain supplemental benefits count toward your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum.
