It takes less than an hour to donate blood, and one unit can save up to three lives.
“It’s easy,” says Sunnyvale resident Monica Dabney. “Bring a book, laptop, or smartphone, and you can read, surf, work, or relax while you make a big difference for others.”
“A good friend of mine had cancer, and I was shocked at how many transfusions she needed,” says Dabney. “We always think of people in car accidents needing blood, but there are a lot of other reasons, too.”
Anyone 17 or older who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health should consider giving blood.
Our Santa Clara Medical Center is Kaiser Permanente’s regional center for heart transplants and cardiac care, so the need in the South Bay is especially great.
You can also give to others in San Jose on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, noon to 6 p.m. at our San Jose Medical Center, Medical Office Building, 275 Hospital Parkway, conference rooms 2 and 3.
Walk-ins are always welcome, but you can save time by making an appointment first. Call 1-800-GIVELIFE (448-3543) or go to the Red Cross website* (San Jose sponsor code: KPSJ; Santa Clara sponsor code: kaiser84santa) to schedule an appointment or get more information. Please keep your appointment, as we count on your gift to help save lives.
