Bringing hospice care home

Getting the comfort and quality of life that hospice care provides is now easier, thanks to our new hospice center in Orange County. The center is based in Tustin, but hospice workers visit patients in their homes. It’s the first owned and operated Kaiser Permanente hospice center in Orange County.

Hospice is a special form of care that provides physical, emotional, and spiritual comfort for people who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses, and for their families.

“Members can continue to be cared for by Kaiser Permanente doctors and team members, who have access to members’ electronic health records,” says Terry Medcalf, RN, administrator for our Home Health Department.

The hospice teams that care for patients are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and may include doctors, nurses, social workers, spiritual advisors, home health aides, and volunteers. A physician referral is required.
