Anyone who has ever tried to diet knows it isn’t easy — and it doesn’t always work! Our Panorama City Medical Center offers a workshop called Making Peace With Food that could help you break free from dieting. The four-week program helps you view eating and weight management in a new way.
“The program is about breaking free from the dieting cycle, to learn to enjoy eating without feeling guilty,” says registered dietitian Nancy Daghighian, supervising health educator at our Panorama City Medical Center. Daghighian teaches the class with Susan Tipton, a health behaviorist.
“Our goal is to help members get in tune with their bodies so their eating becomes part of respecting and honoring their body,” says Daghighian.
Attendees learn how to eat mindfully, which includes eating slowly to savor every bite—allowing time to feel full. You’re encouraged to monitor what you eat and how you feel before, during, and after a meal.
We also offer other healthy eating and weight management classes in your area—and some are free to members. Topics include weight loss and maintenance, weight management for kids and their families, nutrition counseling, fitness such as yoga and Pilates, and much more.
