HOW TO APPLY - Mental Health Internships and Fellowships

    DOCTORAL INTERNSHIPS IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

    Interns must be currently enrolled in APA-accredited doctoral programs and be in advanced standing within their academic programs.  All of our internships in Clinical Psychology utilize the APPIC Match process.     POST-MASTER'S FELLOWSHIPS (ACSW, AMFT, APCC)

    Post-Master's Fellowship positions for the training year beginning in September, 2019 will be posted in early January, 2019.  Check the Kaiser careers job board jobs.kp.org

    Qualifications of Candidates

    By the start of the training year, fellows must: 1) have completed a Master's degree; 2) be in the process of preparing for licensure as Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists or Professional Clinical Counselors; and 3) be registered as ACSW, AMFT, or APCC with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

    In addition, by the start of the training year, qualifed fellows cannot have accrued more than 2000 hours of Supervised Professional Experience.

    The application process begins with the applicant creating a profile on the Kaiser Permanente career website (see below).  Becoming a Kaiser employee includes having a background check and a drug test.

    Jobs and Applications

    All qualified candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.  For the purpose of this question, "employer sponsorship" includes, but is not limited to, H-1B, TN, AC-21, O-1, E-3, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT.     Before you apply, be sure to read the program page carefully. Each program is unique, and some programs have additional application requirements and/or different procedures.  If, by the application deadline, an insufficient number of qualified applicants have applied to any position, that position may be re-opened to receive additional applications.  Applicants should check the KP jobs website for these re-opened postings.

     

    General Application Requirements: 2-Step Process


    STEP A: THIS STEP CAN BE DONE IMMEDIATELY        

    CREATE YOUR KP JOBS ACCOUNT & JOB PROFILE:  Before you can apply to any KP job, you must first create an account and a profile in jobs.kp.org: 

    1. Follow the directions on page 1 of KP application instructions.

    2. When creating your online profile, please attach a current resume.

    3. An account and profile can be created at any time prior to applying for a posted position. You do not need to wait until the position is posted in order to complete this step.


    STEP B: AFTER YOU COMPLETE STEP A AND OUR JOBS ARE POSTED

    EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST IN THE JOB LISTING(S) OF YOUR CHOICE: You are advised to check the jobs website regularly, in the following months, for any additional postings. 

    1. After logging into your KP jobs account in jobs.kp.org, you must indicate your interest in our job posting(s)Search for our postings by following the directions on page 2 of KP application instructionsand selecting these parameters:

    • Area of Interest: Behavioral/Mental Health
    • Location 1: California
    • Job location name and team

    2. Submit your interest for any open position(s)

    3. After completing your submissions, you can confirm that the system received them by checking in your account.
