When you understand how much and when you can expect to pay for services, you’ll feel more confident about getting the care you need to stay healthy.
Before your visit — get an estimate
Before your visit, get a personalized estimate for your scheduled services at kp.org/costestimates. Estimates are based on your plan benefits and whether you’ve reached your annual deductible — so you get personalized information every time.
You can get an estimate of what you’ll need to pay for more than 500 common exams, tests, and procedures. Watch this short video to see how it works.
If you can’t get an estimate for a service online, call 1-800-390-3507 or 711 (TTY), weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During your visit — pay when you check in
When you come in for care, you'll be asked to make a payment based on your scheduled services. Your payment may cover only part of what you owe, especially if you get any unscheduled services during your visit. In that case, you'll get a bill for the difference.
If you have a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA), health savings account (HSA), or flexible spending account (FSA) and received a Health Payment Card or debit card for your account, you can use it to help pay for qualified medical expenses.
After your visit — track your bills and expenses online or on your mobile device
You'll get a bill after most visits. You'll also get an Explanation of Benefits to help you track your expenses and see how close you are to reaching your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum. You can check bill and payment history, make a payment, and manage payment methods online at kp.org or using the Kaiser Permanente app.
